One pinch salt
1 small cored and sliced into wedges head cabbage,
6 large potatoes, sliced in quarters
4 large peeled and sliced carrots
Chopped fresh parsley - 1/4 cup
Two tablespoons butter
Directions corned beef and cabbage recipe:
Take a Dutch oven that contains 6 quarts. Put the ingredients such as beef brisket, garlic powder, bay leaves, peppercorns, salt and onion in a pan. Pour in enough water in the pan so that all the ingredients cover thoroughly with it and keep it an inch extra than that. Let the mixture boil and cook it for about 20 minutes. Check and remove any residue that soars to the top. Lessen heat to simmer and cook it for about 2 to 3 hours, until meat becomes tender and it can be extracted with a fork.
Once the meat is cooked, add the carrots, cabbage, potatoes and dissolve them into the mixture. Simmer the mixture for about 15 minutes more, until the potatoes are soft. Remove any oil that floats to the surface. Mix in some parsley and butter. Take away the pot from the heat.
Remove the cooked meat from the pot, put them on a serving dish, and keep it for 15 minutes. Also, take out the vegetables to a bowl to keep them warm. Cut meat in diagonal slices against the grain. Serve meat on a platter. Spread juice over the vegetables and meat.
Serve this awesome beef platter with butter and authentic Irish soda bread. You will certainly receive a lot of appreciation from your guests.
